Murder, plot twists, and mayhem: Dishonored is a game of extremes, and one of the best stealth-action games ever created. It's an immersive power trip. And while it's often considered one of the best games on PC in recent years, we don't know how we've found the time to show you this untold story. When Corvo Attano—the once loyal protector to Empress Jessamine Kaldwin -is framed for her murder and sentenced to death by hanging, he begrudgingly accepts his fate. However, before he can be executed, he must receive the Maker's gifts of invisibility and speech in order to seek out—and eliminate—the emissary Delilah. Dishonored is a supernatural thriller set in an otherworldly steampunk universe where mysticism and industry collide. Powerful Members of Parliament are being assassinated on the streets of Dunwall. The city's authorities blame these assassinations on an unknown immigrant. Meanwhile, a powerful leader in the Navy makes it clear that all suspected plague victims will be killed on sight in order to prevent the spread of this deadly plague in Dunwall. The city has no idea who is next on the hit list - but soon discover that loyalty is key... Dishonored has been developed by Arkane Studios, a Lyon-based developer regarded for Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. In the development, the team worked with Colantonio, who was an author of Thief: The Dark Project. In addition to powers granted by the player's choice of Corvo's mask, Corvo's array of supernatural abilities developed over time. These abilities were divided into three distinct categories: "Powers", "Augments", and "Devices". Powers could be used or upgraded an unlimited number of times, while each player upgrade in augments or devices could be applied only once per mission or level. For each of these categories, there was a pool of more than twenty special abilities. There were several sub-categories of augments, devices, and powers. Some augmentations would raise the power of an ability (such as the Arrow Blast upgrade to Dishonored's Corvo Attano's Blink ability), or make it easier to use (Arrows of Light upgraded to Blink's Corvo Attano's power). Other augmentations would provide unique advantages, such as invisibility (Corvo Attano's "Shadow Walking") or increased weapon damage after a hit from the blade (Corvo Attano's "Dual Wielding"). These upgrades could be found in vases, urns and urn-like containers scattered across the environment of each level. Unlike many other games, Corvo and the other playable characters were not restricted to a "class" or character progression system. Instead, each upgrade could be applied to any of the three categories of power, augment and device. All of these upgrades were purchased using a new currency called "coins". As opposed to experience points, which were used to level up, upgrades can be used without earning enough coins for them - but doing so prevented the character from gaining that upgrade at all. Dishonored emphasizes player choice by allowing players to customize their powers as they see fit throughout the game. eccc085e13
